Event Sketches, taking commission pre-orders by sonialeong
Event Sketches, taking commission pre-orders

I am accepting pre-orders for my very limited event sketches for MCM Expo London Comic Con this weekend, 24-26 October 2014 (

  • I will take on a maximum of 10 requests
  • Email me directly ( your request
  • I will reply with confirmation on whether your request has been accepted
  • You must be able to pay in advance in full with Paypal
  • Tell me when you are likely to pick up your piece (day, time)

A few ground rules and what you should expect:

  • Please give me a detailed character description, reference pics, any special poses, any colours you prefer, or monotone/sepia
  • Fan art, portraits and original characters are fine
  • The more freedom I have with poses/zoom, the better the picture tends to turn out
  • The artwork will have my style/look to them, don’t expect super realism or an exact copy of someone else’s style. Chibi is fine though!
  • The artwork is a SKETCH. It will not be super detailed all over, do not expect me to spend more than 45 mins in total on it.
  • I have the right to refuse if I don’t want to do your request
  • I have the right to reproduce the artwork for promotional and educational use

If you don’t get in, you have a chance to commission me on the day, at the event itself like usual, but I STRONGLY recommend coming to my stand ASAP as I very often sell out all of my slots by lunchtime.

I will also be accepting pre-orders for Leeds Thought Bubble 15-16 November 2014 (, you are welcome to email me about that too :D

This is Veronique Tempête, the Elven Chancellor of the Lyceum Arcanus in 'A Brush With Magic', my upcoming illustrated fantasy novel.

As I drew her as part of a tutorial for Chameleon markers, I also have the line art which you can download practise colouring with :)

It seems we got off to a bad start last time, I want to apologies for that. Anyway, I have written a manga and am loking for an artist as I am unable to draw it myself.
Hordelung Featured By Owner Jun 30, 2014  Student Artist
How much does it cost to produce per manga/comic page?
sonialeong Featured By Owner Jul 24, 2014  Professional General Artist
Yes. But for a whole book, I may change my page rate to reflect circumstances such as high royalties.
Hordelung Featured By Owner Jul 26, 2014  Student Artist
How much are we talking here?
sonialeong Featured By Owner Jul 30, 2014  Professional General Artist
e.g. 200 pg book, I may discount my rate by about 10-50% or so if I'm paid upfront an advance on royalties of a few thousand £. But like I said, it changes a lot depending on the size and scale of the project, who I am working with, every one is different!

Is this helpful for you? Are you trying to figure out how much to charge someone? Or are you trying to hire me? You are being a bit abrupt.

I normally charge anywhere from £50 to £300 depending on the style, finish, deadline and number of pages :)
Hordelung Featured By Owner Jul 23, 2014  Student Artist
Is that £50 per page?

Konnichiwa, Sonia-sensei! I've got your book- Draw manga: Complete Skills. It's really good! And you're a very good drawer! I need to practice now so I can also be a good drawer ^^ But people say it even now. Still, I need to practice. (and find time to post my artwork, 'cause I have a lot of drawing which are not in my dA gallery yet...) So, thank you very much for writing that book. :tighthug:

Hi there Sonia sensei. I was wondering if I could ask u 4 sum advice. Lately, I've hardly been getting any comments on any uv my artworks n haiku or even any critiques at that. N seeing other artworks like yours with nearly or even over a hundred comments I just can't get that far with mine. How can I get even more comments on my work like u?

Haha, I get barely any comments on my own artwork these days, not even a dozen on most, unless it's really detailed! So I'm afraid I can't really help you there, I don't know what makes people comment.
