This is a quick summary of some basic guidelines I wrote for Letraset for putting together Manga faces in an upwards and downwards view. For full text and guidelines, please go to the official Letraset blog, which will be updated every other Tuesday from me:

Please note, these are basic tutorials for the beginner, so the style of drawing in the examples is kept quite rigid and simple for ease of understanding ^^ guidelines should be tweaked to match your style as well as the type of character you draw.

I also have a summary for front, side and 3/4 view here:

Gah! I hate drawing that underside chin view! Doesn't matter how many times I try it just doesn't look right. Mind you, I think I make the mistake of defining it with a line too much. It's better to leave the lineout and define with shades. I finally FINALY got that into my head with profile drawings with the chin and jaw line leading to the ear. :D Now I'm not scared of drawing profiles ;P

Yaah, sometimes you cannot escape views you'd like to avoid drawing

It was nice to see you too, it's been a few years since we met in person, right?

Hey, is there a different website where I can Purchase Aya Takeo Volume 2? I don't feel safe ordering from a place that's not in the USA.

Hi there - with the US version, it seems that the printer/publisher isn't working correctly? I can't seem to access the later volumes on Amazon for some reason.

Otherwise, myself and my group which publish the UK versions (which has the same content) will handle your order directly from our website, which is based in Cambridge, England:

We use a Paypal checkout (and you don't need to be registered/have a paypal account, you can use whatever credit card you want with the payment service) and we've never had trouble posting to the USA before, we've done so several times in the past.

Or you could order from Amazon.co.uk, but it will take longer as we'd have to supply Amazon, which then supply you.
